Tiger Ebony –A dense black hardwood commonly found in the Philippines, tiger ebony holds a mixture of brown and black shades with banding from the wood grain visible. Ebony has found many uses from crucifixes and chess sets; to musical instruments and jewelry. In bead form they hold a natural polish that helps to anchor and ground the gemstones surrounding it.
Howlite – The howlite mineral is commonly found in eastern Canada, where it was first discovered, as well as Germany, Mexico, Turkey, and the United States. Opaque and porous, the howlite gemstone is generally white or light gray in color, and is commonly marked with black, gray, or brown intersecting branches of vein-like lines. Known as a calming stone, howlite is said to help its wearer rid themselves of stress, emotional pain, and harmful attachments. It is also believed to remove anger and unreasonableness so as to effectively allow one to process emotions and thoughts without being overly critical.
Magkono Banded Wood - What is most striking about Magkono is its strength. Known to be one of the hardest types of wood in the world due to its ability to draw metal minerals from the soil, Magkono, also known as “ironwood”, possess a smooth and hard wood grain. It is a tropical wood that is commonly found in the Philippines.
